The Bayan is the larger, bass drum of the Tabla pair. While the Dayan (right drum) carries the melody and treble, the Bayan is the voice of thunder — producing the deep, powerful bass tones that anchor every composition, every taal and every concert performance.

In the Artist Model, the Bayan is crafted from pure heavy-gauge brass — the preferred material of professional Tabla players worldwide. Brass produces a richer, warmer, more resonant bass than copper or clay alternatives, with superior sustain and a fuller harmonic spectrum that fills concert halls with effortless authority.

The drum head is made from hand-selected premium goatskin, meticulously layered with Syahi — the traditional black tuning paste made from iron filings, rice starch and manganese — applied in perfect concentric circles by master craftsmen.
